The suggestion that all publicity is good publicity certainly is a misconception, and I appreciate you highlighting the mythical nature of that claim. I think the intensity of bad publicity also makes an impact on the overall outcome. But as you pointed out, it all comes down to how the person, brand, or company responds to the negative light being shone in their direction.
